Advice

Don't stand by an electric fence while you are soaking wet, the ground is wet, and you're holding a large metal pipe. It hurts all over your body if you get shocked by the fence. Your brain even gets a shock which results in a headache. But you don't have to take my advice. You can try it for yourself...if you're brave enough.

CountDown to the 4th...Do I Make You Proud

Dirty Hands

Last week, I was working and we were staining and resealing the cement flooring of a swimming pool room. My job was to do the inside rim above the swimming pool without getting any chemicals inside the pool. So I used my hand to catch the drippings of the urethane. Pretty soon my hands were covered and my hands were sticking to everything I touched. It was like putting superglue all over your hands. I spread my fingers as far apart from each other as I could so they wouldn't stick to each other. And the hand that was holding the roller brush got stuck to the roller brush. It was awful to pry it off. After a while the urethane dried and it was permanently stuck to my skin. I came home and used fingernail polish remover, fast orange, gas, anything I could think of. Five days later it's just about off only because I've been picking at it relentlessly.

Moral of the story: Hands are not made for everything.

Sunday

This is me sitting in a hammock at Spencer's house. I've always wanted a hammock and now I live with one. It's beautiful. I don't sit in it as much as I would like, but that's okay. This was a relaxing Sunday afternoon. I went to church, and decided to walk home, however, I didn't realize I was wearing terrible shoes for walking and half way home had to take them off. I have 3 big blisters on toes that have already popped. I walked a half a mile bare foot in a dress on one one of the busiest streets in Layton in a dress. Perfect.

Sorry sorry Sorry

I apologize for not posting for a while this summer has been so crazy. I've just been going where the wind blows and I'm still not done yet. It's been fun except I'm going to be running out of funds soon. I applied for a job shuttling rental cars at the airport. Right after I filled out an application they asked if I had time for an interview so I went in for an interview that lasted 2 hours. The man was really nice and the interview went really well. He said the only thing keeping him back from hiring me is that I wouldn't work on Sundays and that was a busy day so he wouldn't hire me if I didn't. He said I had to work every Sunday for the rest of the summer. It was tempting because it would have been a great job driving nice cars and meeting new people all the time, but I just couldn't bring myself to accepting it. Their loss. ha.

Work

It took me 7 hours to sweep a floor today. I think I'm a slow sweeper. I would try to go fast but then I would get overwhelmed with all that was left so I concluded to just be steady because I didn't want to burn myself out. I did it though. I finished a job, I will only have to begin again tomorrow. haha.

Summer 2007 Job Idea

Work with Stephen Aston in creating a Web Design Business in Southern Idaho.
Step #1 - learn to create websites
Step #2 - get clienteles
Sorry Netty...does this make more sense.

My Project

Tell me how this looks, I took off all the logos as to whose it's going to be just in case I would get in trouble, you know. But I was just experimenting and so if it looks okay we may keep it, if not then it's gone and I'll just do another one. But I was just wondering everyone's professional opinion. It's not finished, not even close, just in the beginning stages.

Patience

Patience in self, patience in being, patience in living, patience with others. All these things are great treasures to possess. I'm learning that I probably don't have very much of any of them. Funny. Life will is going to be great because I know if I don't have these things I'll soon get them, huh. Beautiful.

I just ripped out my wisdom teeth on Thursday and now one side of my face is puffy. ha. I looked like a mushroom head this morning. haha. I only had three so on one side I still can eat. Like yesterday I ate hamburgers and of course I can still eat cookies if I eat them really slow. But I feel like I'm on a diet. It's crazy.

Experimenting with Food

It's the end of the semester and I was hungry for a snack so I created one out of some of the remaining food I had left. Like Cheerios and Peanut Butter and Honey and Frosting. Tasty huh?

Ice Caves

Yesterday I went out to the ice caves in the dark. The snow was too deep to drive all the way to the caves so we had to walk the last mile to the cave. I wasn't in favor of it but I just went along with the random idea. When we go to the caves it was pretty cool because you just walk or slide on a river of ice. There's places where you have to lay down to get through. But it was pretty fun. I wish I had pictures but that's ok. So it turned out better than I thought. It was a great adventure and I would do it again. It kind of looked like this but with more snow...

Monday Night

Yesterday was a beautiful sunny day. I didn't expect anything great to really happen because I didn't have any plans for the day, but it ended up being a wonderful day. I helped Dave with his project and I got to skip one of my classes. For dinner he and his roommates invited me over for a bbq. It was fun. Later I went to FHE, and then we got to combine with another FHE and play ultimate frisbee which was awesome. Next the neighbors upstairs invited us to their Ice cream Sunday Party where basically it was an ice cream fight outside our house. I just watched, though, I didn't want to get sticky and waste food like that. And finally I got to watch a lightning storm on top of a roof with my roommate. It was a good day.

3/22/2007

Love Sac

This is Kate's Love Sac we used to have last semester. I don't have any new pictures of this semester because I don't have a camera and these were taken by my roommates camera. That's okay last semester was funny. In the first pictur I am underneath the love sac pretending to be a turtle and giving my roommate Tiffiny a ride. And in the second one I am on top and Tiff is underneath. We were bored. haha.

3/12/2007

Master Experiment

I made a short movie for one of my Sociology classes and in it I decided to record random people doing random things in public and put it all together with a song. I was going to post it but it is too big of a file besides it probably would require an explanation and all I would say is it's all about life. It was the first movie I ever made in my whole life.

3/06/2007

Skiing

I went skiing for free last week. I just got my BYU-I driving permit and my roommate was in charge of it so she asked me to drive one of the vans up with some students. I agreed to and I got a free pass to go up. I wasn't planning on going skiing because I don't really like it but I figured if it was free I would try it. I headed up the mountain and I was so scared. I barely made it off the lift without falling. Then me and my roommate headed down the mountain. Still scared, I followed her. Half way down the mountain we got seperated and I haven't skiied since I was 10 years old. I was terrible. I hated it the rest of the way down. I thought I was going to die, but I didn't cuz I'm still here today. But I promised myself I would never do that again if I made it down safely. I just wasn't made to be a skiier I've decided. We all have our own skills and this is not one of mine.

An Adventure

I climbed half of R Mountain yesterday. It was a grand adventure. I had a date at 7 and I decided to climb it at 6. So I drove in the icy roads out to the butte. Then I parked my car at the bottom of it and I raced up to the top. I ran most of the way. I was wearing black loafers because this was an unexpected adventure. One in which I wasn't sure I was going to do, until I did it. I made it to the peak of the smaller hill in front of it the main hill. I carried a video camera the whole way. Then I ran back down the butte and barely made it back in time for my date. I actually was late.

2/19/2007

Falling

I decided to go running this morning to be healthy, but it's was freezing outside. So I had to get pumped up to go. In my head I was like "I can do this, I'm a dedicated runner as of today, I can do this," and finally I got up enough motivation to go. I start walking down the stairs and the bottom stair looks like it is wet from the rain. I stepped on it and I slipped hard. I fell right on my front door step onto the cement steps. My elbow got scraped up but I walked back in to the house and started yelling, "MY EGO, MY EGO!" And it took me like 15 more minutes to pump myself back up to go. This was my first fall of the season.

A PUZZLE

I am so weird...yesterday after I cried for a while I got this surge of energy and I started laughing at everything. Coylou was sleeping and I was bored, so I began pretending every song on the CD I was listening to was put on their for a reason. So I tried to listen really closely to the words but I missed most of them because it was on so soft. Then I started making up words for the songs that applied to me personally and it was great. I was laughing and crying all over again. Now, listening through them and actually being able to understand them makes me laugh because the people aren't singing the same words as I thought they were. It made my life a whole lot more entertaining though. thanks--I love it--no one ever gave me something like this.

Vision

In business class we've been talking about vision. The best businesses in this world became the best because someone had a vision and developed it. For example, Microsoft's vision was to equip every home with a computer, and that's what they set out to do.

I've been thinking a lot about my own personal vision. Who do I envision myself becoming? Am I striving to become that person? Am I choosing opportunities that would cause me to grow the most or am I taking the easier, more enticing path? This life is but for a moment and the things I value here will make all the difference in who I will become. Hmm. More importantly the things I value now are the things that make me who I am now.

Remembering

When I was younger, I remember envisioning who I would become when I grew up. I remember I used my favorite qualities of the people who I admired the most to make up who I wanted to be:

I wanted to be like Laurie and just look beautiful at any given moment, with her commitment to the things she believes in.
I wanted to be in control and fun like Debbie and be strong so everyone knows where I stand.
I wanted to be independant and a people person like Spencer.
I wanted to make people laugh like Brian and be a hard worker.
I wanted to be organized like Lynnette and go to bed on time, and be self motivated knowing that I could accomplish any thing I put my mind to.
I wanted to be persuasive and smart like Melanie.
I wanted to be a friend like Venita and have her love for people.
I wanted to be as patient and charitable like Dave.
I wanted to carry myself like Chanae. In the way she eats, walks, and respects herself.
I wanted to know all the answers like my dad.
And have the same passion for the gospel and life as my mom does.

Case Scenario

I have 5 roommates whom I live with. And one of the five, say Sally, is not friendly to any of the other roommates but me. Which I find odd because I'm not sure how I got chosen to be the only one Sally associates with. She is not my room roommate but she would like to be and she keeps asking me to move in. But I see she gets angry quickly and she's already been mad at me and I don't want to fill my life with the stress of always worrying about my actions. So I choose not to move in with Sally because I find our relationship would be best if kept at a distance. Well Sally's room roommate, Fran, cannot stay in the same room as her any more because Sally ignores her and is forwardly rude to her. I don't blame her for wanting to move out. So tonight I am approached by Fran, who is crying, and asked to switch her rooms tomorrow because she can't handle living in the same room with Sally. She will either move out of the apartment or move into my room. I honestly do not want to move in with the other girl. My choices are to move out and allow Fran to move into my room or have Fran to move out. Either way one of us will not be staying. What would be the best way to handle this?

Wikipedia definition of KAMI:

Kami is the Japanese word for the objects of worship or awe in the Shinto faith. In some instances, such as Izanagi and Izanami, kami are personified deities, similar to the gods of ancient Greece or Rome. In other cases, such as those concerning the phenomenon of growth and natural objects, the spirits dwelling in trees, or forces of nature.
Kami may, at its root, simply mean 'spirit', or an aspect of spirituality.

Best Part of Day

running through Family Dollar
screaming in the car
talking to my mom
crying on my bed
dancing in Wal-mart
Harriet jumping out from the clothes racks to scare me
getting locked out of my house...again (but then going to my old house)
eating ice cream with roommates--soon
singing Chrismas songs at the top of my lungs
doing accounting homework (cuz it's so much like math)
paying off next months rent already
laying on Harriet's bed
talking to my brother Spencer
watching the movie Dave made on Robert Frost's the road not taken??
thinking about the truck I wish I drove
leaving a message on kate's phone with harriet
laughing...

The next two poems are ones I found in an American contemporary poem book. I love them both.

REDWINGS

Maybe you've noticed that around here
red-winged blackbirds aren't rare,
but they aren't seen often either, and then, at distance,
banking away from roads as we pass.

But one morning, I saw a hundred
more, feeding on seed I'd scattered
under a line of pines planted
more than a hundred years before.

Almost at rest, their feathers folded close,
only yellow wingbars
break their black bodies. But when, as they did,
all at once, they lifted, that red...

I've tried for a long time, and maybe should,
to tell you how they disembodied redwings
flared and vanished.
I've lost them in every telling.

So much for me. I could die now, anyway.
Could you? We will close our eyes
and rest, in case the blackbirds, in slow motion,
assume again the flames they are, and rise.

SIMPLE TRUTHS

When a man has grown a body,
a body to carry with him
through nature for as long as he can,
when this body is taken from him
by other men and women who happen to be,
this time, in uniform,
then it is clear he has experienced
an act of barbarism,

and when a man has a wife,
a wife to love for as long as he lives,
when this wife is marked with a yellow star
and driven into a chamber she will never leave alive,
then this is murder,
so much is clear,

and when a woman has hair,
when her hair is shorn and her sclap bleeds,
when a woman has children,
children to love for as long as she lives,
when the children are taken from her,
when a man and his wife and their children
are put to death in a chamber of gas,
or with pistols at close range, or are starved
or beaten, or injected by the thousands,
or ripped apart, by the thousands, by the millions,
it is clear that where we are
is Europe, in our century, during the years
from nineteen-hundred and thirty-five
to nineteen-hundred and forty-five
after the death of Jesus, who spoke of a different order,
but whose father, who is our father,
if he is our father,
if we must speak of him as fatehr,
watched, and witnessed, and knew,

and when we remember,
when we touch the skin of our own bodies,
when we open our eyes into dream
or within the morning of sunlight
and remember what was taken
from these men, from these women
from these children gassed and starved
and beaten and thrown agains walls
and made to walk the valley
of knives and icepicks and otherwise
exterminated in ways appearing to us almost
beyond even the maniacal human imagination,
then it is clear that this is the German Reich,
during approximately ten years of our lord's time,

and when we read a book of these things,
when we hear the names of hte camps,
when we see the films of the bulldozed dead
or the film of one boy struck on the head
with a club in the hands
of a German doctor who will wait
some days for the boy's skull to kint, and will enter
the time in his ledger, and then
take up the club to strike the boy again
and wait some weeks for the boy's skull to knit,
and enter the time in his ledger again,
and strike the boy again,
and so on, until the boy, who,
at the end of the film of his life
can hardly stagger forwar toward the doctor,
does die, and the doctor
enters exactly the time fo the boy's death into his ledger,

when we read these things or see them,
then it is clear to us that this
happened, and within the lord's allowance, this
work of his minions, his poor
vicious dumb German victims twisted into the swastika of trees struck by lightning,
on this earth, if he is our father,
if we must speak of him in this way,
this presence above us, within us, this
mover, this first cause, this spirit, this
curse, this bloodstream and brain-current, this
unfathomable oceanic ignorance of ourselves, this
automatic electric Aryan swerve, this

fortune that you and I were no the victims, this
luck that you and I were not the murderers, this
sense that you an i are clean and understand, this
stupidity that gives him breath, give him life
as we kill them all, as we killed them all.

Textbooks Galore

I have so many, so many textbooks cuz I get into a class, buy the textbooks, then decide that I don't want to take the class anymore and switch my schedule around. For the past week, I've changed my schedule every day. I can't even remember which ones I'm taking any more.

Rupert

I went to Rupert today. I rode with my sister who just returned from Russia a little over a week ago. My brother who returned from Brazil 6 months ago. A Ukrainian (a boy from Ukraine), and a Mexican (a boy from Mexico). I wore soccer shorts, Teva's, a sweatshirt, and my nephews red CTR zip tie. I looked around at the buildings, and people. I stepped back and concluded I am ready to return to Rexburg, so I can learn how I can better influence society instead of just wasting the short time I have to live on earth. ha

Thought for the Day...

I don’t want to say goodbye to you ever.
I want you in my life forever.
But I know that desire is nearly impossible.
It’s not what was meant to be.
You were sent here at this time in my life for a purpose
And I was sent to yours.
But it wasn’t meant to be for forever.

I don’t want to say goodbye.
So I hold on too tight.
And I contact you as much as possible.
I just want these memories to last forever.
Because I know one day we will be apart.
Perhaps thousands and thousands of miles apart.

I don’t want to say goodbye,
But my journey in life was not meant to be in unison with yours.
And so one day we will separate,
And the strength you’ve given me will radiate to everyone I meet.
I will talk of you and tell them of how I once had a friend like you:
A best friend whose testimony is apparent to everyone.

And soon I’ll learn that we’ll never have to say goodbye
Because I know that no matter how far apart we live
It will only be for a small moment.
So until we meet again remember that I love you
And I will never forget the part you play in my life.

oh great

So for my research paper in English 315 I decided to go out on a ledge and write a paper about something I am passionate about and emotionally connected with. And so I wrote about how English is not taught correctly. I had to give a presentation on it in front of the class and it was awful because I was so nervous. I was nervous about what my professor would think about my subject because it totally contridicted his teaching style. So I completely messed up and my powerpoint didn't work so I winged it. I am still so scared, but I shouldn't be because why should I care what my teacher thinks. oh great.

12/11/2006

Why English

Have you ever wondered why the Restoration of the Gospel was restored in the English language? Of all languages why English? I feel like English is the most confusing language to learn. So here's some ideas I've had. Perhaps it was because English is a mixing pot language where so many other words influenced its stucture and so it was easier to interprete as correctly as possible into other languages. Another thought I had was perhaps it was the last language for the gospel to be taught in, therefore, it was the first in this dispensation. If it even was a language back then. And that's all I thought. But I still wonder why English? There has to be a reason. And why are we the only nation who uses the wrong metric system to measure things? America, America...gotta love it.

Frog

My frog is dieing once again and I'm said. It's the second one I've killed in one semester. I held him a lot tonight just feeling him live, hoping that touching him would revive him from his deathly state. It's weird how you can feel life within your hands. I mean it's not like he moved or even breath deeply but I could feel his presence. It's a totally different feeling than when they're dead. I wouldn't be surprised if I woke up and he were dead in the morning. It's sad to see things like this end. You never know how much you miss things until they leave. We held a memorial for our frog just in case he died. We all told the frog what we liked most about him. It was cute.

Road Trip

I want go on a road trip soon....but I haven't found a purpose in going....so I wonder if it'll happen.

Fun Fact--I'm so interested!

The QWERTY keyboard layout was devised in the 1860s by Christopher Sholes, a newspaper editor who lived in Milwaukee, who was also the creator of the first modern typewriter. Originally, the characters on the typewriters he invented were arranged alphabetically, set on the end of a metal bar which struck the paper when its key was pressed. However, once an operator had learned to type at speed, the bars attached to letters that lay close together on the keyboard became entangled with one another, forcing the typist to manually unstick the typebars, and also frequently blotting the document. Sholes decided that the best way out of the difficulty was to find out which letters were most used in the English language, and then to re-site them on the keyboard as far from each other as possible. This had the effect of reducing the speed, and, by doing so, lessened the chance of clashing type bars. In this way was born the QWERTY keyboard, named after the first six letters on the top line.

Now

Today was amazing. I saw the prophet with my own eyes. I heard the Mormon Tabernacle Choir with my own ears. It was powerful. I have never felt such a strong testimony of the prophet or of the Savior. It's real. This church is real and the prophet is a real person. I saw him. I was in his presence. I heard his testimony for the first time sitting in front of him. And the music felt more powerful than ever. I have no idea why. I love this feeling. It's incredible. I know, I know he is a prophet of God. I knew it before, but not like this. I didn't think it would be so different, but it is. Sometimes during the Christmas devotional I couldn't focus on what the speakers were saying because I was trying to fathom the reality of it all. They're real people, with real personalities and I saw them. I saw them and heard them. It makes me want to share my testimony with everyone.

Was it crazy? Yes
Was it worth it? Yes

Music

My mom hates punk music. Okay in reality, she dislikes any kind of music that isn't church related. She's even pretty picky about the church music she listens to. So growing up I had to pretty selective about the music I listened to while she was in the house or in the car with me. In High School, I liked punk bands. Possibly because it was the cool thing to do and possibly because it was new. But I couldn't listen to it very often because my mom didn't like it until I found Relient K. And then I justified it by telling my mom they were a "Christian" rock band and they wouldn't have bad music they're "Christians." haha I was so silly. My mom still didn't let us listen to them, but they did become one of my favorite punk bands. And now I laugh, but they do have a new CD coming out and if you want to listen to one of their songs go to this website: http://www.myspace.com/relientk

Today's Weirdness

My computer talked to me while I tried to set up a new account. It said "We'll win a medal." I was just playing with the headphones and then I reopened internet explorer and it was by my name. So it really said "kami We'll win a medal." Cool.

I've taken a vow of silence for the next two hours to prove a point.

It's snowing and blowing outside and I wore a dress with sandals and I loved it.

My bed has turned into an ice cube and my room a refrigerator and me a frozen burrito.

A real pine Christmas tree sits in a plastic green mixing bowl two feet from me. (We're going to decorate the tree)

And I'm craving bananas.

Reevaluating

Lacey had a panic attack tonight. A full blown out panic attack. She complained about feeling sick all night. The first clue happened as she ate chips and salsa.

Standing in the kitchen Lacey's hands go weak and the bowl of full of salsa falls and stains the bottom of her pant legs. Three times this occurs each time staining a new spot on her jeans. This isn't normal for Lacey; Lacey's extremely fit and coordinated. However, no one thinks anything of this, and she continues her previously planned schedule for the night but with a more serious aura. I feel something is wrong with her, but I don't really think anything more than that. I yell at her to come and answer the door for some pretend missionary boys. On the way down the stairs her legs callapsed and she falls hard on to her knees, and then she slowly turns around and crawls back into her room, shaking the whole way back. She tries to get into her bed, but grasping her bedroom chair she falls onto the floor. Crying and shaking she lays on the floor helpless wondering if this is the end of her life.

I freaked out. I thought she was going to die. Erin called her Dad and he walked her calmly through the panic attack. I guess it runs in her family, but she's never had one before, so it was a new experience for all of us. Immediately, I called David and Devin and they came over and gave her a blessing. She hyperventaled and shook for about 45 minutes. I was so scared.

After this I just reevaluated who I am and what is important in life. I going to do tons of homework tonight, but I ended up staying with Lacey for 3 hours. I love having my brother close enough to come and help out with things like this. I love that he's a worthy Priesthood Holder, who can ask God to perform miracles, at any given moment.

I hope I get the chance to live like I was dieing. Every moment of every day to be watching and helping and giving every piece of me.

Looking In

Look past the outside curtain and behold the land. It's beauty grows in abundance. If you search, you will find it's most prized possesion before the adversary. Now take heart little one, the fight has yet to begin.

A Poem

"THE WORLD IS TOO MUCH WITH US; LATE AND SOON"
The world is too much with us; late and soon,
Getting and spending, we lay waste our powers:
Little we see in Nature that is ours;
We have given our hearts away, a sordid boon!
The Sea that bares her bosom to the moon;
The winds that will be howling at all hours,
And are up-gathered now like sleeping flowers;
For this, for everything, we are out of tune;
It moves us not.--Great God! I'd rather be
A Pagan suckled in a creed outworn;
So might I, standing on this pleasant lea,
Have glimpses that would make me less forlorn;
Have sight of Proteus rising from the sea;
Or hear old Triton blow his wreathed horn.
--William Wordsworth 1806.

An English Free-Write

Today in Doctrines and Covenants, we talked about the Law of Consecration. The discussion was packed with questions and insights. One question arose which we conversed about for forty of the fifty minute class period. The question went something like this: How does one decide how much material goods he can own? And is a person selfish if he owns a boat because he could have used the money to help build the kingdom in other ways? This led to great controversy, and it got me started thinking. It is my belief that we spend too much of our time on materialistic goods and less on building relationships. We treat each other too much like objects and not as children of a God in heaven. We use each other to get gain, and then dispose of the memories. It’s like a child who gets a new toy on Christmas Day. At first he gets excited over the newness of it all. He values its use and makes sure not to get it dirty. Day after day the toy gets used less and less. The child gets bored with it, and eventually he uses the toy in ways it was not intended for; he throws it around as though it were trash. Finally, the toy’s value grows insignificant to the child. He no longer values it and soon throws it away. Do our relationships follow in this same path? I think far too often they do.
We value the worth of a machine more than we do a human being. Steven R. Covey said that we put our equipment in the assets column of our businesses, and people in the expenses. More and more people are being put to work in factories doing simple mundane jobs—jobs that require little to no thinking. But imagine if we reversed these roles. What if we set people in the assets column, and equipment in the expenses? A human mind is capable of accomplishing incomprehensible tasks—tasks in which machines can never imitate. In fact, there is so much to learn about the brain, that modern day sciences can’t keep up with it. So why do we allow material goods to run our world instead of people? Let’s take people out of the factories and test them intellectually. Allow them to think, and imagine, and then create. How powerful could we as a human race become?
Now let’s go back to the initial questions. How does one decide how much material goods he can own? And is a person selfish if he owns a boat because he could have used the money to help build the kingdom in other ways? Well, in a way it doesn’t matter. As children of God, we get to govern ourselves. So use your incredible brain and decide what you think is best for you. Nevertheless, keep in mind, relationships and people are the most important possessions this world has to offer.

To Venita, myself, and anyone else

I want you to tell me this, "I am not going to grad school because I know Heavenly Father doesn't want me to go." I don't want you to say you're not going just because things aren't working out. Sometimes it's good to feel like a failure so you can try harder. Take me for example. I had to learn that I'm failing 2 of my 6 classes before I got my head on straight this semester. Now I am determined to work harder to get my assignments done on time. Failure can bring determination. If you want something and it feels right go for it. Don't tell me you're going to stop reaching for your goal because things haven't worked out at the time you wanted them to. I understand; however, that if you truly don't have a good feeling about it then don't do it. Sometime good things can bring fear though. You just need to distinguish what kind of fear or confusion you're feeling. In fact, the first time Joseph Smith saw Moroni, he was scared. But he quickly got over that fear. Sometime in our inadequacy to identify good from bad, we get scared. Don't be scared. Do what YOU feel is right. You're the person who knows you best and knows what is best for you. Believe.

My "Weeping" Leg

I slide in the dirt trying to score a goal yesterday. I didn't score; however, it was lucky the goalie scored for me on accident. Haha. The nurses today told me my knee was "weeping" that's why if you take a close look you can see yellow and clear puss oozing out. It looked worse yesterday...believe me.

Inspired

Brother Grant inspires me. I want to be just like him. He's my hero. He motivates me to conquer all my fears. To act and not be acted upon. To dig deeper and stop wasting valuable time simply on entertainment. Today he inspired me to take chances on relationships. To love more because I can and what else is there to life. Life is based on experiences. The people. The places. Take advantage of what you've been given. Ask the handsomest guy to go on a walk. Break down personal walls within yourself and go outside your norm. Why not? What have you got to lose? Life is for learning. Learn, understand, and then apply the knowledge. If you don't apply then learning was pointless. Do your best and if you fail you fail. But think of the great lessons you've learned from the experience in failing. A lifetime of greatness awaits...I already started conquering my fears. I went to my crush's house tonight, but he wasn't there. He doesn't even know me, but he will soon. Live life. Take chances. Go out on a limb. Then smile.

Smiling

I can't stop smiling, all day...I don't even know why. It's kind of been a lame, but smiling kind of day. I did homework all day, and I feel like I've been crying all day because I have that weird stuffy headache and stuffy nose. But the overall feeling is amazing. I love this day. The sunshine. The people. The laughter. The random memories flowing through my head. The learning. Exercising with the roomies. Eating a strange concoction of vegetables from Bernice's garden. Sweating like a pig. Rexburg Unplugged craze. Chocolate chips festival. And I can't stop smiling cuz the days not over. I'm going to play tag in the caves and my sister's going to come with me. It's days like this that build your testimony because you know Heavenly Father must love you to allow you to be a part of this day.

Cereal, Cereal, Cereal...Perfect

Early Wednesday morning I woke up with the intent of being the first person to get to Albertson's to buy 10 boxes of cereal for 10 dollars. I ended up buying 20 because I figured I'd give 15 away. I've only given 6 boxes away and I can't part with the rest...haha. Perfect I love cereal now. I've eaten a different kind every day so far. Uhh in search for a picture I ran into the coolest cafe ever. All they sell is cereal in a cafe. It's amazingly insane. It makes me laugh. Why?? www.cereality.com

Life should resemble a soccer game

No fear--bold anticipation.
No pain--pure focus.
Mistakes planting desire.
Instinctive steps.
Giving my best.
Realizing my best today is better than yesterday's.
Living, breathing, working.
Honesty, loyalty, love.
Less talking, more doing.
An individual, a team.
Leave your baggage at the gate
And your shoes on the field
Cuz life doesn't get any better than this.

Lucky

Yesterday, while eating trail mix, I didn't find a single raisin in my whole cup. I thought I was so lucky because I hate raisins. Then I remembered the person sitting next to me is allergic to chocolate. I reminded him of this and he gave me all his chocolate chips, and that's when I knew it was a good day.

Don't be afraid

I just watched half of the scariest movie ever because I was too scared to finish it, and I am now wide awake, listening to church music, praying for peace, and reminiscing the past. I wish I was a better person, but all I can do is press forward one step at a time. I'm a slow learner, yet I still have the ability to change myself. Amazing. Sometimes I don't think I deserve to know or be close to people because I cause them a lot of pain. I want to be perfect for them because they deserve someone great and naturally I'm not so I get mad and eventually I give up...dumb huh. Kami, don't be afraid to fail. Not only with people but with the experiences in life. Failure can lead to determination, satisfaction, and a whole lot of knowledge.

"Somebody To Do For"

--Shortly after the funeral held for the first wife of President Harold B. Lee, someone expressed sympathy to his daughter Helen for the passing of her mother and said: "She took such good care of your father. I'm sure he must be lonely and must miss all the things she did for him."
--Helen responded with an insight of remarkable wisdom. " You do not understand," she said. It is not so much that he misses all of the things that Mother did for him. He misses her most because he needs somebody to do for."
--We all need somebody to do for. When that is unfulfilled as a need, we become lonely.
-Boyd K. Packer

Pictured above is our Sun in three colors of ultraviolet light. Since only active regions emit significant amounts of energetic ultraviolet light, most of the Sun appears dark. The colorful portions glow spectacularly, pinpointing the Sun's hottest and most violent regions.

My Conscience

You know how most people feel the Holy Ghost in their heart, well tonight I have a confession. Sometimes because I'm a some what heartless fool, I feel him in my bladder. Yes, my bladder. Almost every time I convince myself to do a mischievous, rash idea and am at the brink of accomplishing such plans, I suddenly get an overwhelming feeling that I need to go pee (yeah, and I can barely hold it). So then my plan gets thwarted until I can locate a bathroom, and by that time I've realized the stupidity of the prior plan and I've already conceived a new plan and completely forgotten about my desire to go pee. It's ridiculous. I must not listen to my heart very well, but I sure listen to my bladder.

Last night while driving home, I was inspired to turn off the radio. Soon I became enveloped in millions of joyous thoughts and concepts of my life thus far. I am grateful for a living breathing body. I love it. I am grateful for my trials which can also be looked at as opportunities. I'm grateful for my family and their endless love for me even when I'm crazy, grouchy, tired, silly, and stupid. I love their amazing examples to me and their genuine friendships.
I followed the sunset last night and the whole time I was filled with an overwhelming amount of peace. I reminiced about past experiences and I remembered how much I truly love my imagination. I delight in not knowing what the future holds for me. It's great, I could do and become anything at this point in my life, and this unknow can be a little frustrating but still how lucky I am to be able to choose.
And at the end of all these wonderful thoughts I remembered riding the bus for hours. I don't know why this thought came to me but it did. And I even became grateful for Mrs. Moser and her crazy stand up hair who yelled at us everyday, and who would not change the bus route to drop us off any earlier because we were really her favorites but she never admitted it--she retired after we stopped riding. ahh--enough

"Oh...Delightful"

It's about Connor peeing in the sandbox.
It's about losing children.
It's about Christopher's cute little laugh.
It's about Sid the sloth doing a fatal back flip while demonstrating the new Willy Wonka's theme song.
It's about the funny ideas and comments the kids come up with daily.
It's about singing a made up song as the kids jump on the jumping mat--it wasn't a very good punishment, we all enjoyed it too much.
It's about Kacie and her inward lonliness converting to outward hatred.
It's about Chase's non-compliance and yelling throughout class period in search for any kind of attention.
It's about Makyra coming to school every day with her clothes dirty, her hair tangled, she's drenched in smoke, and has almost no ability to communicate verbally with anyone.
It's about the girl, who looks like I did when I was little, causing me to reflect back on my own childhood--Man my life's been pretty good.

Quotes of the Day

"The finest gift you can give anyone is encouragement. Yet, almost no one gets the encouragement they need to grow to their full potential. If everyone received the encouragement they need to grow, the genius in most everyone would blossom and the world would produce abundance beyond our wildest dreams."
- Sidney Madwed

"The most exciting breakthrough of the 21st century will occur not because of technology, but because of an expanding concept of what it means to be human."

We Will Be Together Forever One Day

I visited Stacy today at her new apartment. It was one of those visits you don’t really want to do because you knew it would be awkward for both of you. I took her a house-warming gift which consisted of a box of Kettle Corn and a genuine Kami made card. When I walked in she was putting up the final furnishings up in her room. Although the room was almost complete the room radiated a feeling of emptiness. I gave her the welcoming gifts and we began small talking. Soon the conversation inevitably turned to the recent death of her best friend Brittney of 10ish years. As she talked of the friendship they had and the greatness of her friend tears welded up in her eyes. I wanted to cry so bad, but I held it in because I’m an idiot and do that. She talked about the last minutes she spent with Brittney and the unrealisticness of her death. And how the day she found out about her death, she still waited for a phone call from her. I imagined the effect this tragic event would have in my life. I hated it. I hated this feeling of sadness. I wanted to comfort Stacy, but I didn’t know how. So I left. I left and promised we’d hang out all the time to help with the loneliness of the death of her roommate and best friend. While driving my eyes began to water, and I pondered on my feelings. And I heard the song “We can be Together Forever One Day” come on the radio by Michael McLean. Something I needed. Powerful. The Lord knows who I am and what I needed at that time. He was the only one who could provide me comfort at that time, and so it is with Stacy too. I have been so lucky to be with the people I’ve been with thus far in my life.

Shoshone Falls

Visited them last Saturday night at 9:30pm. There's tons of water, incredible sight. Every time I visit I have a strong impulse to jump in. Most people are scared they'll fall, I'm scared I'll leap willingly. Not that I want to die, it just seems too beautiful to be harmful and I want to be part of it. Weird.
